Common Reasons for Not Having a Projection

The following are common reasons a child might not have a projection in the Student Success Summary:

  • Child is new to the state.
  • Child does not have enough prior assessment data.
  • Child did not test in the most recent reporting year.
  • Grade in which child last tested affects which projections are available.
  • District, school, or teacher chose not to include Projections to Advanced Placement (AP) Exams in the Student Success Summary.
  • Projection is below the threshold. The Pennsylvania Department of Education set a threshold of 20% to receive an AP projection for inclusion on this report. While projections to AP less than 20% are not displayed on the Child Success Summary, admins and teachers can access these projections on the Student Projection Report (if the child had enough testing history to provide a projection). The 20% threshold for projections to AP is a policy decision by Pennsylvania Department of Education. Your school can contact the PVAAS Statewide Team for PDE for assistance with policy-related questions.
