Growth Across Time
Student projections indicate how a student is likely to score if the student makes the amount of growth that was typical for students who took an assessment in the most recent prior year available. By considering how all other students performed on the assessment in relation to their individual testing histories, the model calculates a projection for each student.
Past Predicted
The student's Past Predicted score is provided for reflection purposes so that educators can assess where students scored on an assessment in a given year compared to where they were predicted to score, given the average growth observed in the state for that assessment. Calculations are made using the student's past testing history and the current cohort of test takers in the student's grade, subject, or course that year. Educators can compare the distribution of Past Predicted scores to a student's actual results to determine whether they kept pace with the average growth observed across the state in a given year.
Teacher, School, and LEA/District growth results consider more than just a simple aggregation of comparisons between students' Past Predicted scores and their actual results. The models might use a number of methods to provide more reliable estimates of student growth, such as incorporating team teaching in the teacher model.
Future Projected
The Future Projected selection in the report uses data from a prior cohort of test takers in the grade, subject, or course. Future projections indicate likely future scores for the student given their prior testing history. Future projections can help you consider the likelihood of a child reaching performance level or benchmark on a future assessment. This can help you make instructional decisions in addition to identifying where a child may be placed for future courses.
